Notebooks like no other.
Having been established as a design studio for over 30 years, we’ve had the great pleasure of collaborating with a number of individuals and companies along the way. From photographers to paper specialists, illustrators to printers we’ve been lucky to have discovered people with a shared passion for crafting and design excellence.
One such company is Boss Print, possibly one of the best printers in the country. Having approached us with an idea for a mailer to encourage other design studios to use their services, we suggested that we might create something together that not only went beyond expectations but that would be talked about too. And so Noted was born, a modest set up whose sole aim is to print and produce the finest designed notebooks available, created by our studio and printed by Boss Print.
Given the enormous wealth of visual ephemera and design gems we’d amassed over the years, there was certainly no shortage of content and a range of different themed editions would enable Boss Print to show off their expertise.
So our first collaborative effort, entitled Found Fonts, featured a number of three dimensional letterforms that we had collected on our travels. Boss was able to die-cut, emboss and use any number of appropriate print and finishing techniques to show off their prowess; and we had free reign to design as we pleased.Hot on the heels of this first edition (and having won the Whitmar Publications Print and Marketing Awards for special print effects) we embarked on the follow up, using learnings from the first. Entitled ‘A Cut Above’, it features a collection of beautiful razor blade wrappers discovered on a Roman fleamarket back in 1993.
Ticking all the boxes and tough parameters we set ourselves, this has possibly been one of the most satisfying projects to have passed through our studio recently. The final solution makes us justifiably proud because it has challenged the client’s brief, utilised the expertise of a trusted partner and allowed us dedicated time to craft an exceptional piece. It’s a venture that’s already become a talking point.

From our initial conversations through to final artwork delivery, Carter Wong have been a joy to work with, given their very creative ideas, coupled with a relaxed but very enthusiastic attitude.
This has resulted in a great collaborative relationship far exceeding our expectations and a series of publications that are working unbelievably well for their intended purpose.
