“Education for all = Achievement for all”- so runs the mission statement for the Cardinal Wiseman School in Greenford, North London.

“Good design for all” could quite possibly be our motto. We certainly see no reason why a school prospectus shouldn't have the same care and attention paid to it as, say, a corporate report.

A box of school prospectuses, kindly given to us by the headmaster, helped us conclude that A4 was the convention. But convention is something we don’t do.

Challenging the norm

We challenged the norm with a larger than A4 format, designing the prospectus to showcase an arresting set of photographic portraits of students and staff alike. Copy was kept to a minimum and displayed on half page inserts, while a different paper stock added an extra tactile dimension.

Attention to detail

Each of the students had their name and dream career highlighted. This theme was carried over to the cover where an assortment of careers, wished for by the students themselves, were presented as school uniform name tags: everything from dietician to plumber, pilot to teacher.
