The Members’ Handbook is the key publication that reaches all of the charity’s 910,000 plus members and plays an important part to bring in new members.
Each year the cover theme is chosen by English Heritage to highlight a key anniversary or event they wish to promote. The design has to be iconic, inspire and appeal to English Heritage’s member community, as well as the wider public audience. Equally, it must sit comfortably with the handbook designs from previous years.
The 2018/19 theme celebrates English Heritage’s 100-year association with Stonehenge. Our design shows a multifaceted image of legends and historical events associated with this iconic monument through the millennia.
Intricate illustrations explore the myths of the stones -the protective powers of the rooks that reside there, the theories around the astrological meaning of the stones and the key artefacts uncovered at the site. The sum is a compelling cover design that does justice to one of our most important national monuments.
Increased membership has helped to contribute to English Heritage raising over £30 million in donations in the last five years, enabling projects to flourish at 92 sites across the country.
